18th – 21st September 2019

Barnstaple Fair and Carnival, 18th – 21st September 2019

Held in the town since 1931, Barnstaple Fair is the biggest in the South West! It returns once again 18th – 21st September 2019 inclusive, with games, food, rides and a massive carnival.

The Fair proclamation, this year held 18th September, is held at the Guildhall in the centre of town. It is a prestigious event attended by the Mayor, Town Clerk, Chief Executive of North DevoCouncilil, the Chief of Police and many other dignitaries as well as representatives from local businesses and organisations.

The carnival takes place on the afternoon of the final day before the fair continues late into the night and usually attracts up to 20,000 people.

The carnival is split into a children's adults procession, with the crowning of a carnival queen plus fireworks! Organised by a small committee of volunteers, the carnival is a registered charity, so if in town on the 21st ensure you have some spare change to donate as the carnival circles through the central streets.
