Pilton Green Man Festival 2019

Pilton's annual Green Man Festival is back for another year of the best local food, drink, music activities and lots of fun.

Pilton, a small part of Barnstaple, was granted a charter to hold an annual market by Edward III between 1327 - 1377, However the recent rival of the 'green man' is a lot more modern and dates from a recent revival after a lapse in festivities over several centuries.

Originally the Green Man is an ancient symbol of nature and fertility, depicted in carvings such as the ancient Parish Church in Pilton. The Revival of the symbol took place in 1982 were the festival started with a two month programme of activities, stalls, a flower festival and lots of family activities and the Green Man was introduced.

The day is kicked off with a Parade through Barnstaple with many local schools and groups taking the walk and ending in Pilton where the fun begins, with local food and drink stalls, activities, live music and much more, it's the perfect day out for everyone.
