Will has shared his favourite spots in North Devon for you to try on your next break, from getting out on your bike to trying paddle boarding around the idyllic town of Combe Martin, Will has some great picks that are well worth a try!
1. Walking Exmoor
Grab your walking boots and head to the moors, with a unique mix of landscapes, including high sea cliffs, rolling moorland, working farmland and deep wooded valleys. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape, Exmoor’s wide open spaces, wonderful wildlife and vast selection of walking trails will help you get away from it all.
2. Cycling the Tarka Trail
180 miles long, this figure-eight route traverses unspoiled countryside, dramatic sea cliffs, and beautiful beaches. Walking or cycling, you can experience the best this beautiful area has to offer. The trail passes through Barnstaple and is just a few steps away from our hotels in the town.
3. Paddle boarding & Kayaking at Combe Martin
Whether you’re a keen paddle boarder and have already mastered how to stand or just up for trying something new, head to Combe Martin for a day of fun!
4. Arlington Court
Take a step back in time when you discover Arlington Court. Take the tour of the 18th century Regency house, each room decorated in the unique collections, marvel at the collection of horse drawn vehicles and stroll the gardens including a beautiful woodland walk for all the family.
5. Westward Ho!
Not only is Westward Ho! the only town in the UK to have an exclamation mark as part of it’s name, but it is a must see on your trip to the South West. Miles of golden sand, lapping waves and vast pebble ridge makes this beach a picture-perfect haven. Aside from the wonderful beach, Westward Ho! village is delightful, with arcades, quirky shops and the world famous Hockings ice cream.
