Our Top Wine Picks for Summer
Imagine this, you’ve just got back after a long day exploring North Devon, you’ve checked into a luxury room at The Imperial Hotel and you’re sitting on our terrace soaking up the glorious sunshine sipping a gorgeous Australian wine - could life get any better than that?
Here at The Imperial Hotel, we pride ourselves on quality wines, from Bordeaux to California we’ve got over 65 wines that make up our extensive selection that will suit any taste buds. As well as an incredible selection, we pride ourselves on serving the most sustainable and traceable wines, so we are not only enjoying great wines but we're protecting our oceans too.
Our Director, Matthew Brend shares with us his top picks for the summer months ahead.
You & Me Albarino
A highly underrated grape varietal for many years, Albariño is finally getting the credit it deserves. Grown in the cooler climate of Northern Spain, the Albariño grape oozes with flavours of apricot, banana and honey, which pairs beautifully with mild cheeses like burrata and manchego or delicate poultry dishes such as guinea fowl.
Vin De Provence Aix Rosé
This Provence rose is very much on-trend right now and for good reason too; it’s delicate & easy-drinking with a blend of Grenache, Cinsault & Syrah making for a light-bodied drop that screams summer in a glass. If not enjoying it on it’s own, it pairs well with a piece of pan-fried Trout or Salmon.
Coastal Reserve Merlot
A bottle of wine that gives back to the planet - what could be better? Our collection of Coastal Reserve wines work in partnership with Plastic Oceans Europe to help protect our oceans for future generations. It’s not just that which makes this wine well worth drinking, as it’s Spanish merlot grape gives it a warm hint of vanilla & liquorice which pairs perfectly with a main course of spiced lamb or pan-seared duck.
If you're wine frenetic or just want to try something new then head to our Colours Bar & Bistro and enjoy a glass or two - we know you’ll love it!
